Since the beginning of 2014, the Mistoria Group has taken on a number of young apprentices, to offer them the opportunity to learn new skills. For many, it is their very first experience of the workplace. 18 year old Kye Bennett-Long describes how the first couple of months in the job are progressing.
Following a two year stint at Pendleton College and having obtained 4 A’levels in accounting, maths, media and business, in addition to a BTEC in ICT software, it is clear that Kye Bennett-Long is a young man keen to make his mark on the world. When the opportunity to join the Mistoria Group on a 1 year apprenticeship presented itself, he jumped at the prospect of learning new skills and benefiting from the experience of others. A quick learner by his own admission, he has settled well into the bustling environment of Mistoria Estate Agents.
“I have been here for more than a year now and am very much enjoying the role.” says Kye. “The lettings division is extremely busy and varied and I’m happy in a supportive position. On a daily basis, the job can involve administrative duties such as loading applicants onto the system, updating checklists and of course, answering the many queries that come through. I am beginning to recognise that computer work is one of my skills.” Being ‘thrown in at the deep end’ might be daunting for some, but Kye appears to be taking it all in his stride. The full time position has given him an essential glimpse into how a commercial environment operates and the role of the employee. “I can see why the Mistoria Group is as successful as it is and experiencing the current level of expansion.” he says. “The people make it work and are very efficient.”
It would appear that Kye’s position has already given him a taste for business. “I would like to go on to become a lettings manager one day and have a successful career!”
