A recent study has shown that there is a growing trend of property investors in the North West becoming more optimistic about both their investments and the economy in general. The research, conducted by OnePoll, found that 59% of the investors asked are confident in the property market, and 37% said that they would choose more property if they were given £100,000 to invest in any way they chose. Almost a third also said that they were looking to make further investments in the next 12 months, demonstrating the confidence and optimism that many investors have in the current economy, particularly in the North West.

These statistics follow numerous announcements of large-scale developments in the North West. Plans are underway in Liverpool to build 1,500 homes and revive 1,000 empty properties, as well as revamping Birkenhead town centre and converting a historic bank in Liverpool city centre into the city’s first five star hotel. Recent building proposals in Salford follow the BBC’s move to MediaCity, making Greater Manchester the media capital of the North. These measures confirm predictions that the North West is the place to invest in 2014, with many international companies creating jobs in the major cities and professionals migrating up north for new and exciting career opportunities.

Indeed, a removal and storage firm in Preston (recently named the eighth happiest place to live in the UK) has confirmed that the housing market shows no signs of slowing down, with their bookings at their highest in five years, often taking as many as 30 bookings a week. They have stated that despite the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors’ suggestion that the property market is beginning to slow, the reality appears to be quite the opposite in the North West.

For this reason it is hardly surprising that so many North West investors are optimistic about the future, especially in contrast to the market in London, where prices have risen beyond reason over recent years due to too little supply and too much demand.
