The high-profile daytime television programme Homes under the Hammer visited Liverpool to see how Mish Liyanage CEO of The Mistoria Group is investing in older properties that need refurbishment to deliver high standards of accommodation for the increasing numbers of UK and overseas students in the city.

In the televised programme Mish was filmed converting a terraced house close to the city centre into an attractive student property. Offering a range of benefits not always available in University Halls of Residence such as 24/7 maintenance, 350MB broadband alongside white goods and TV Mistoria properties are proving popular. Coupled with high standard of fit out the rents can be upto 15% lower than average which is good news for cash strapped students.

Mistoria is increasingly attracting those students who choose to move out of halls after the first year to stay in 3 to 6 bed houses with selected friends and as a result occupancy levels in Liverpool are presently at 98%.

With 75 properties in the city The Mistoria Group are now one of the largest providers of student accommodation with a total asset value of £45m. Such is the growth of his student letting business Mish is now looking at further expansion across the city after opening his first estate agency there in 2015.
